Samantha’s tip: Model language and sounds daily by talking with your toddler. Repetition and daily conversation are key.
Did You Know That
Toddlers learn a lot of new words and sounds while playing with open-ended toys.
Animal names and sounds are the first forms of speech to develop in a toddler.
All children have an innate distribution of learning language, from babbling to speaking.
Usually, children with language developmental issues also have issues with their hearing.
Children, while young ( before four years old), can learn and master several different languages very quickly.
For Language To Be Learned
1. Toddlers Need To Be Motivated. This is shown by your child's self-talking while playing.
2. Toddlers Need To Be Interested. This happens when your toddler leads and sets the tone in their play.
3. Toddlers Need To Have An Understanding. The toys your toddler uses in their play should all be age-appropriate, have repetition and be at their cognitive and skill level.
4. Toddlers Need To Have Repetition. All actions and words need to be done and heard a few times before your toddler learns them.
5. Toddlers need to be regularly Exposed to it: Please daily speak to your child, copy their sounds and slowly pronoun the names of objects and actions you are doing. Children with English as their second language can learn both the home and English languages simultaneously, but they need to be exposed to hearing them daily. Other ideas are watching shows in English, reading books in English, listening to music and being around people speaking English can help.
